Belay Investment Group, LLC (Belay), is a real estate investment management firm that pursues value-added real estate strategies designed to maximize risk-adjusted returns to institutional investors. Belay’s investment strategy seeks to capitalize on opportunities in specific markets, sub-markets and property types positioned to benefit from long term demographic and economic trends expected to have the greatest impact on long-term tenant demand. Belay’s investment strategy applies a thesis-driven approach to market/sub-market, property type and operating partner selection, all of which are of paramount importance to achieving investment success. Managing Principal and CEO

Barry Chase

Mr. Chase is responsible for overseeing all investment activities for Belay Investment Group, LLC, and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He has more than 35 years of institutional real estate investment experience. Prior to co-founding AVP Advisors, LLC in 2004 (the predecessor firm to Belay), Mr. Chase held senior executive positions at Koll Development, Cushman Realty Corporation and CT Realty, where he directed more than $2.5 billion in commercial real estate transactions through multiple market cycles. During his career Mr. Chase has been involved in all aspects of the real estate value chain, including deal origination, acquisitions/dispositions, asset management, leasing, management of development activities, debt restructuring, and management and repositioning of venture capital corporate-level investments. Mr. Chase earned his J.D. from the University of San Fernando and is a member of the California State Bar Association (inactive), Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Amy Ko

Amy Ko is involved in all aspects of investment strategy and execution for Belay Investment Group, LLC, including operating partner underwriting and mentoring. She is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and oversees finance, accounting and reporting, operations and compliance, along with investor relations. With more than 20 years of institutional real estate experience, Ms. Ko spends a significant portion of her time mentoring Belay’s operating partners in fund management best practices. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Ms. Ko was a First Vice President of Finance at Arden Realty, then Southern California’s largest publicly traded office REIT, where she developed reporting infrastructure and led corporate finance for the $5 billion company. Prior to joining Arden in 1997, Ms. Ko served as a member of the audit team of Ernst & Young, LLP, where she earned her CPA. Ms. Ko received her B.S. (Accounting) from the University of Southern California and is a member of National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) and Commercial Real Estate Women – Los Angeles (CREW-LA).

Eliza Bailey

Eliza Bailey is involved in all aspects of investment strategy and execution for Belay Investment Group, LLC, including operating partner sourcing, underwriting and mentoring. She is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and is actively involved in asset underwriting and management. Ms. Bailey has more than 16 years of institutional real estate experience making direct equity and debt investments, completing operating partner selection, and overseeing asset and portfolio management. She was most recently a Managing Director at Partners Group, where she built and managed a real estate direct debt practice with $400 million in assets under management. She also served as Partners’ chief underwriter and acquisition officer for approximately $350 million of global direct equity and debt real estate investments across multiple property types that were held in joint ventures. Prior to Partners, Ms. Bailey served as a portfolio manager at Pension Consulting Alliance, where she actively managed institutional client relationships. Ms. Bailey received both her B.S. (Psychology) and M.B.A. (Finance and Management) from the University of Oregon.

Suzanne West

Suzanne West is involved in all aspects of investment strategy and execution for Belay Investment Group, LLC, including operating partner sourcing, underwriting and mentoring. She is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and leads capital formation activities. Ms. West has more than 26 years of institutional real estate experience. Prior to joining Belay in 2014, Ms. West was a Managing Partner and Co-founder of Park Madison Partners, an institutional real estate advisory and capital placement firm. Previously, she held a variety of portfolio management positions and gained broad experience in capital raising, private equity and investor relations for private and public companies including The O’Connor Group, Acadia Realty Trust, DRA Advisors and Aetos Capital. She began her real estate career in the real estate group with the State of Connecticut Trust Funds, where she was involved in the management of the Funds’ $1.7 billion real estate equity and commercial mortgage portfolios. Ms. West has a B.S. from the University of Connecticut (Finance) and is a member of Executive Women in Real Estate and the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). She has served as Toigo Mentor with The Robert Toigo Foundation for more than six years.
